WIOA Services

First Institute has been providing Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services for both adult and youth populations throughout northern and central Illinois in conjunction with One-Stop partners since 1989.

In 2001, First Institute was awarded a cost reimbursement contract with Lake County to identify, recruit, assess, determine eligibility, provide comprehensive case management services, follow-up and place into employment, one hundred out of school, economically disadvantaged youths.

FITM leaders began implementing WIA-funded programs in 1989. FITM has demonstrated the capacity to deliver large-scale workforce-related programs that regularly meet or exceed mandated and contracted standards and outcomes. Over the past eleven years, FITM has effectively managed federally funded workforce development contracts exceeding a cumulative total of $17 million. FITM, through its sister organization First Institute, Inc., has more than two decades of workforce development experience.

First Institute has provided over five thousand One-Stop clients, including various Welfare to Work programs, with at least one of the following services:

  • Soft Skills Training
  • Job Development/Placement
